The Beat Goes On is a minigame in Mario Party 3.

Gameplay

Spear Guys play a sequence of four drum beats, and players take turns repeating the sequence without playing the wrong drum which disqualifies the player. When the sequence is done the player then plays a drum to extend the sequence further. When only one player remains that player wins. If the sequence reaches sixteen units and a player completes the sequence correctly the game ends in a draw and no one wins coins.

Why It Sucks

  1. The main problem with the minigame is that it usually ends up taking minutes to complete, which conflicts with the general setup of Mario Party minigames of being a short diversion from the main game.
  2. As explained above, if the sequence reaches sixteen units and a player completes the sequence correctly the game ends in a draw and no one wins coins, which means that minutes have been wasted to end up with no result.

Redeeming Quailty

  1. At least the title is accurate?
