When a level is so hard that the developers had to scrape it, you know you're in for some trouble.

Stormy Ascent is a cut level from the original Crash Bandicoot that was originally meant to be Slippery Climb. While back then, this level couldn't be played without using a Gameshark code, it was made as a fully playable optional level in Crash Bandicoot: N. Sane Trilogy as free downloadable DLC. This level is widely regarded by both fans and critics as one of the worst stages in the entire Crash Bandicoot franchise, and for good reasons.

Why It Sucks

  1. Unbelievably unfair platforming sections, some parts require you to jump on eagles with far more precise timing.
  2. The spinning platforms spin way too fast.
  3. The level is far too long.
  4. The enemy placements are so cheap you won't know what's coming.
  5. Remember back in the original Crash Bandicoot made for the PlayStation, you must not lose a life once in order to get a colored gem, if Stormy Ascent was programmed into this game, then it would be borderline trial and error, thus almost impossible for anyone to complete this level without losing a life! Thankfully in the N. Sane Trilogy remake, it only contains a regular gem, so you can lose a life and still get that gem.
  6. It's a nightmare for players who are trying to get the Platinum Relic because it demands you to complete this long-ass level in one go in 3:10!
  7. In the N. Sane Trilogy remake, this level suffers from a glitch that would cause a rotating platforms in the middle of the stage to stop working and not move. If that happens, especially for Players who are trying to acquire the Platinum Relic, fans will get enrage that they have to start all over again, and the glitch has not been fixed sense.

Redeeming Qualities

  1. At least the music is good.
  2. Some fans do enjoy the level for its challenge.
  3. It's Free DLC, and it's not required for 100% completion.
